Bourne2Care is now CQC Registered
Why did I get registered with the Care Quality Commission?
In early December 2021 I finally received notification from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to say my private menopause services had been registered but why did I get registered?
The most important reason being is that it is a legal requirement as I am providing medical services. The CQC monitor, regulate and can inspect premises to ensure the safety of everyone using the service.
The CQC set many standards and I had to demonstrate that I met each of the criteria with examples which included
• How I support women women with disabilities such as Autism or ADHD,
• How I assess women on long term HRT
• How I ensure women are also supported by their GP
Feedback from women I have prescribed, monitored and supported is discussed which is why I ask for feedback after every consultation. It is also important to me to see how I can continually improve the services I provide.
This isn’t simply a form filling exercise, it has taken many months of preparation and setting up of numerous policies and procedures. However after a 3 hour interview with a CQC official and a pharmacist I passed!
Should a CQC registration matter to you?
Yes It should!
There are many menopause service providers out there and it’s growing by the day but some important questions to ask yourself
Are these people health professionals?
Do they have menopause qualifications?
Where have they got their information from?
Many don’t and therefore how do you know if what they are saying or doing is right or safe?
Just because you have “gone through the menopause” yourself does not mean you should be teaching others on it!
Having a CQC registration let’s everyone know that I am a qualified professional and that the care and support that I provide is continually being assessed and developed.
You can see my registration information on my website and if you would like to book an appointment with me please email enquiries@bourne2care.co.uk
